Bonaire’s waters are part of a protected marine park, and STINAPA (Bonaire National Parks Foundation) requires all new divers to complete a mandatory check dive before diving independently.

Why is the Orientation Dive Required?

✅ Ensures you understand reef protection guidelines.
✅ Confirms you are properly weighted and have the correct buoyancy to protect both the reef and yourself.

Already dived in Bonaire before? If you have previously been diving in Bonaire, you do not need to repeat it—this is only required for divers new to the island.

But I’m an instructor, or I have 3000 dives do I still need this? Yes, every new diver on Bonaire must complete this orientation dive regardless of qualifications.

📅 Advance booking is required for your orientation dive. Start time will be 8 a.m.

Diving with a Group?

If you’re part of a group where others have already completed their orientation dives, they can begin diving immediately while you complete your orientation. Once you pass, you’ll be able to join them.

Important: Meeting Requirements

If you do not meet basic dive and reef safety guidelines during the orientation dive, you will not be allowed to dive independently until the requirements are met.
