Bonaire's waters are part of a protected marine park, and STINAPA (Bonaire National Parks Foundation) requires all new divers to complete a mandatory check dive. This orientation dive ensures that you are familiar with the guidelines that help preserve Bonaire’s fragile reef system, and it confirms that you're properly weighted and have the correct buoyancy to protect both the reefs and you.
If you’ve previously been diving in Bonaire, this orientation is not required—it's only for divers new to the island. You will need to schedule a time for your orientation dive in advance. If you're part of a group where others have already completed their check dives, they can start diving right away while you complete your orientation. You’ll be able to join the group once you’ve passed.
Please note, if you're unable to meet the basic dive and reef safety guidelines during the orientation dive, you won’t be allowed to continue diving with AB Dive. However, if space is available, we may offer a refresher or Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB) course to help you improve your skills.
